Kalyesubula wins Black History Month Art Contest

 

 

Sanyu Kalyesubula, the nine-year-old artist who submitted her Mae Jemison inspired art piece in the Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation Black History Month Art Contest last month has won. Sanyu Kalyesubula was notified that she was the winner amongst the third-grade entries on February 27th. 

Sanyu Kalyesubula submitted her artwork the week prior after participating in her first art exhibit at Sol Plaza Boutique Mall in Lancaster. Come join Sanyu and her brother Ali as they participate in their school’s entrepreneur fair. The event will take place Saturday, November 2nd. Sanyu will be selling her GabbyBows, Sanyu’s Slime, Sanyu’s Scrub, candles and more. Her brother Ali will be selling lemonade, smoothies, juice as well as other snacks.

I’m so excited to be going to the carnival next week as a vendor. My grandparents moved to Lake Los Angeles last March so this will be our first time attending. We have participated in a number of events held at Sorensen Park in Lake Los Angeles and we always have a blast.
